History

Established as the Scandinavian Association in September 1872, the Danish Association 'Heimdal' is the oldest club in Queensland.

The club was formed to provide sickness insurance for the benefit of the local Scandinavian population.

The Danish Club today is very much a social club, holds a variety of monthly functions, predominantly on the second Saturday of each month. Until June 1997 the club had its own hall in Cleveland Street, Stones Corner.

Most functions are held in the new hall, the Danish Club-house at 36 Austin Street, Newstead.
